World Wildlife Fund - A basic primer on jaguars from a respected conservation group, with an overview of the Amazon basin, greatest stronghold of Panthera onca. Wikipedia - The on-line encyclopedia entry for jaguars is thorough, interesting, and usefu. You, too, can update it. Several Internet sources of news reportage and conservation information about jaguars... Carnivore Conservation - Arguably the most complete compendium of news reports and research papers on carnivores of all kinds, with a specific category for Felidae (the cat family). Updated daily and multilingual. Panthera Foundation - Specializing in wild cat research and conservation, this nonprofit is doing cutting-edge work in Brazil's Pantanal, Belize's Cockscomb, Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, and other key areas of jaguar activity. Wildlife Conservation Society - This extensive site describes various past and present projects of New York-based WCS, a long-time leader in wild animal conservation, including jaguar fieldwork. Northern Jaguar Project - This Arizona nonprofit oversees an innovative, community-based effort to conserve and study jaguars in their northernmost stronghold of Sonora, Mexico, which may be the last best hope for repopulation of jaguars in the United States.
